Paws & Pals Homeless Support
Our Paws & Pals program provides much needed support to displaced members of our community such as those experiencing homelessness. Paws & Pals removes barriers for the homeless and their pets by running outreach support services to pet owners sleeping rough, as well as pop up vet clinics where their pets can receive essential health care.
Safe Pets Safe Families are currently running a pet food bank initiative called the Fill Their Bowl campaign as part of our Paws & Pals program. The Fill Their Bowl campaign works by taking pet food donations from members of the public to provide much needed food supplies to the pets of those struggling financially.

Fill Their Bowl Project
- Pets are often forgotten when emergency food is provided to vulnerable people. Safe Pets Safe Families are committed to changing this and making sure their bowls are full too. We provide food to many charities so people in need can feed their pets.
- This project is an important part of our objective towards keeping people and pets together and prevent unnecessary surrender and euthanasia.
- You can help by kindly donating pet food to our pet food bank. One simple donation provides a meal and peace of mind for a struggling family and their pet.

Story time…
Nicole’s Story…
Without the help from Safe Pets Safe Families, Nicole says she would’ve been completely lost. Nicole’s furry family includes dogs Bear and Princess, her puppy Ruby and cat Smokey plus their scaly sister, Annabel the snake. Thanks to the Fill Their Bowl campaign, Nicole has received lifechanging dog and cat food deliveries to her home, as well as services including check-ups, grooming and microchipping from our pop-up vet clinics.
Having escaped a ‘very bad relationship’ and experiencing financial difficulties, Nicole says receiving this assistance ‘feels great because I didn’t know the help was out there’. ‘I feel very appreciative’ says Nicole.
‘It does help financially, and I’m glad they’re (Safe Pets Safe Families) are out there for people in my situation and people who are homeless’ says Nicole. She adds that Bear also received emergency vet help for Bear following an incident with a redback spider.
‘I’m glad that I found Safe Pets Safe Families. I know my (pets) are being well looked after and are very healthy.’ Nicole says her pets have been a great comfort to her as she’s gone through a rough time, which makes the help even more important. ‘Without Safe Pets Safe Families I’d be lost,’ says Nicole.
